Learn the cardinal Principles of Memorization |
Principle No. 1 : Law of Visualization
Before elucidating this principle I would like to ask you some questions.
Question 1. With whom did you go to Taj Mahal the last time ?
Think of the answer before reading the next question.
Question 2. Where did your scooter/car get punctured... or scene of any accident….. or when your petrol ran out.?
Close your eyes and think of that place of accident. Where? what happened later?
Now the third question...
Who was the villain in the movie "Sholay, Titanic and Earthquake" ?
Perhaps you know the answer for both the movies "Sholay" and "Titanic ".
Now let's dicuss some words which appeared in recent CAT paper.
Write down the meanings of
1. Tenebrous 2. Kowtow
Let's understand what is memory and retention.

So you are unable to answer those questions (Villain in the movie "Earthquake and the meaning of Tenebrous ) which are bereft of pictures and sound.
So friends , I want you to realize that the cardinal rule of memorization is visualization. Because, when you retrieve a particular information , your brain ferrets out the picture and sound associated with it.

Principle No. 2 : Law of Association
The second cardinal rule is linking the new word with a similar sound or spelling word. This link word will help you to form a picture/image.

The meaning of this word is "To remove something unwanted.

Link --Imagine this fat man dancing and exercising to extirpate his Extra Fat from his Pate (Hindi -meaning stomach).

Scuttle (verb)
Meaning :
1. To sink a ship deliberately
2. To run when you are in danger
Eg:
1. The captain took the vengeance and scuttled the ship.
2. The rain sent everyone scuttling for cover.
Now link word to connect the word "Scuttle" is "Cut"
Can you see in picture NO. 1, a person is cutting a ship in the corner to sink the ship |
